Summary: The company traces its origins back to the locomotive production of Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK), which began in Kiel as early as 1918. The present-day company was established in 1991 as Krupp Verkehrstechnik GmbH. In 1994, the company was sold by Krupp to Siemens and was sold again in 1998, with Vossloh becoming the new owner. Subsequently, the company was renamed Vossloh Schienentechnik GmbH. From 2003, the company was known as Vossloh Locomotives GmbH. In 2020, Vossloh divested the company and sold it to the Chinese CRRC Group. Since 2022, the company has operated under the name Vossloh Rolling Stock GmbH. Vossloh is currently best known for the highly successful production of the G1706 locomotives, which have been sold throughout Europe. This locomotive is now being replaced by the DE18 model.
